Prayer Chain
Prayer Chain

May we include you in our prayers? Do you have a prayer need that we can help you with? If so, please call one of our prayer chairpersons: Jill (922-1556) or Maureen (921-5474). You may also fill out a prayer request form (available in the pews during worship services) and hand it to an usher.

When you submit a prayer request for someone, please:

  • Know that we'll keep that person on the Prayer Chain for two weeks unless otherwise requested.

  • Provide updates on the situation or person’s condition over those two weeks that can be passed along to those offering the prayers on the Prayer Chain.

More participants are always welcome on the Prayer Chain. You can join us at any time by calling the church office (922-0020), Jill (922-1556), or Maureen (921-5474).

Bereavement Ministry
Bereavement

The Bereavement Ministry reaches out to families and individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one. Working with the pastor, our bereavement volunteers send cards and make personal visits to those who are grieving the loss of a family member or friend.

Fondy Food Pantry
Fondy Food Pantry

The Fondy Food Pantry was introduced in our community in the early 1970s by Pastor Richard Englund, who served Church of Our Saviour from 1971 to 1976. The pantry was housed there until 2008, and continues to be assisted by volunteers from our parish.

Contributions of non-perishable food and money to buy food come from several participating churches, organizations, and individuals. Food packages are dispensed upon request from parish pastors and area social service agencies, who identify and deliver to the families in need.

Women of the ELCA - WELCA
WELCA

Greetings to all the women who are—or may become—members of this congregation! Each woman who joins this parish automatically becomes a member of WELCA: Women of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

We invite and encourage you to attend a monthly Bible study group. The Lydia Circle meets on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m., and the Tabitha Circle meets on the third Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.

WELCA members also serve on the congregation council; they are members of every major ministry; they usher, serve as lectors, communion assistants, and assisting ministers. Look for us in the choir (singing or accompanying), as First Footsteps in Faith and Vacation Bible School staff and leaders, as well as helping in the Altar Guild. Some of us serve as Food Pantry packers, while others serve at Loaves and Fishes, Broken Bread, and on the Prayer Chain.

You will find opportunities to participate in flower delivery, shut-in visitation, Christmas gift delivery and caroling. Some of us do funeral meal service, altar flower set-up, Christmas tree trimming, or help make "Welcome" gifts for new members.

WELCA members also lead and participate in Bible studies, do quilting at church or home, assemble kits and layettes for Lutheran World Relief and for local needs, and make coffee. (What Lutheran church has ever operated without coffee?) Others serve by supporting WELCA with their financial gifts and sincere prayers for our work in God's glorious kingdom.

Join us! We invite and encourage you to participate in one or several of these opportunities so that

you, too, may know the joy of working with your church family, and of serving the Lord

Quilting Group
Quilting

The Quilting Group meets every Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Participants usually bring a bag lunch to share during a fellowship time before finishing up at 1:00 p.m. The average number of quilts made per year is 200, and helpers are welcome to attend as often or seldom as their schedule permits. All are welcome to come down on a Tuesday and see how it is done. There are many tasks to choose from: ironing, tracing, cutting squares, counting squares, ripping clothes, tying, sewing, making backs and middles, and so on.

First-timers are encouraged to call the church office (922-0020) before attending to make sure that week's meeting has not been postponed due to weather or a church event conflict.

There are also ways to assist with quilting at home if you cannot attend on Tuesdays. For more information, please call the church office.
